Current Racing News Headlines
2007 was a busy year of racing for First State Velo Sport.  We had members compete in numerous road, mountain bike, cyclocross, and multi-sport(triathlon/duathlon) races in the mid-Atlantic and beyond.  Some focused on local series results, while others raced with an eye on USA Cycling and/or USA Triathlon National or World team qualifing events.  We would not have been able to attempt and achieve any of our goals without the support of our sponsors.  Thanks to Christiana Care Physical Therapy Plus; Henry's Bikes; Rudy Project; and Fuji Bikes for another season of support.

Joel Speakman

• Started riding in 1987, then started racing in 2001 after taking an intro to racing class from the Saint Paul Bicycle Racing Club in Minnesota. Best cycling advice: Buy a power meter. I just started using one this year and it is the best training motivator I've found. There is no guessing when it comes to training zones; the meter tells you in real time what zone you are in and gives immediate feedback when you do intervals as to whether or not you are doing them correctly.

• I am racing this year on a FUJI Team Issue and am suited for hilly road races and hilly crits.  If the race goes uphill, you can count me in!
